Gordita Chronicles is a series on HBO Max about a young girl and her family who immigrated to America in the mid-1980s. The format and content are very much based on an '80s sitcom, where the family gets up to various shenanigans all while dealing with the harsh realities of emigrating to a new country. While these issues come to the fore throughout the series, they are well-balanced with the show's overall lightheartedness and themes of acceptance.
