Sci-fi properties often create their own vocabularies. Sometimes, these become iconic, like Star Wars' "nerf-herder" or Battlestar Galactica's "frack," but often they’re very cringe and laughable. Moonhaven leans into this created, futuristic language for its utopian Moon colony. While many of the terms ("think" in place of "thought," "nogginswirl" for "confusing") are objectively funny, they’re also meant to be. The series' futuristic language works so well because it's designed to serve as a divide between Moon colony members (Mooners) and citizens of Earth (Earthers) and often meant to elicit a laugh.
