A new Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie seems more likely than ever following a new report.
Jackman first played Wolverine in the 2000 X-Men movie. Since then, he has reprised the role numerous times, including in 2003’s X2, 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, 2011’s X-Men: First Class, 2013’s The Wolverine, 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, 2017’s Logan, and 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
Earlier this week, it was reported that a Wolverine trademark was filed by Marvel, leading some fans to believe that another MCU project centered around the iconic X-Men character could be in the works. A trademark filing is not a guarantee that is the case, as there are many reasons why a studio could file one; however, it at least invites speculation that there may be plans in motion.
What is the update on a new Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie?
Scooper MyTimeToShineHello is throwing more fuel on the fire, as they wrote on Twitter, “We are getting another solo Wolverine movie starring Hugh Jackman.”
This is just a rumor at this time, and it should be treated as such, as Marvel Studios has not announced another Wolverine movie with Jackman as of yet.
There’s been much speculation regarding whether or not Jackman will appear in either/both Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, the former of which is being released next December, while the latter arrives in December 2027. Marvel hasn’t confirmed Jackman’s casting in either movie, though Jackman did recently provide some interesting comments to The View that suggest fans could see more of him as Wolverine in the near future.
Jackman said, “For five years, I was like, ‘I’m done.’ And Ryan Reynolds would ring me a lot like, ‘Come on!’ I’m like, ‘No.’ And then I rang him one day and said, ‘I’m in.’ And so I go with this — and that’s what my gut says — it’s not done.”
