Deadpool’s Role & Abilities in Marvel Rivals Season 6 Revealed

Deadpool is heading to Marvel Rivals incredibly soon, thanks to confirmation from NetEase Games’ new trailer focusing on the character. In addition to confirming the Merc with a Mouth’s impending debut, NetEase revealed that the character would be unique among the roster. They confirmed that the fourth-wall-breaking antihero would be able to assume all three classes or roles that the game has to offer.

Deadpool can be a duelist, strategist, or vanguard in Marvel Rivals Season 6

Marvel Rivals recently released a trailer confirming Deadpool’s debut in Season 6: Night at the Museum, launching on January 16, 2026. Deadpool can assume three different roles within the game: Duelist, Strategist, and Vanguard.

However, according to NetEase, only one type of Deadpool can be played on a team at a time in Quick and Competitive modes. So if one player on a team plays Deadpool as a Strategist, another cannot play him as a Duelist or Vanguard.

Each type of Deadpool operates distinctly. As a duelist, Wade Wilson uses his dual katanas/pistols to attack/shoot opponents while also throwing one of his katanas like a razor-blade boomerang.

Meanwhile, as a strategist, Deadpool can heal teammates by shooting at them or hitting them with his katanas. Further, as a Vanguard, Deadpool gets a deployable spherical shield he can use to trap enemies and deplete their health.

In addition, Deadpool has a move capable of damaging enemy players when they miss shots. He can also switch things up with his playstyle by occasionally increasing his attack speed.

Moreover, Deadpool will also have team-up ability with Jeff the Land Shark, called Mr. Pool’s Interdimensional Toy Box. As explained by developers, the ability sees Jeff spawn a spinning toy that sprays water. The water not only heals allies, but also covers enemies’ screens with animated Deadpools.

Being the anchor of this team-up ability, Deadpool gains the following perks based on his class, as per the official website:

  • Vanguard – +50 health
  • Duelist – +5% damage
  • Strategist – +5% healing

Furthermore, outside of combat, Wilson can level up his various skills or unlock new ones via an in-game book. He can also take photos with opponents he has defeated. Notably, Deadpool’s photo ability seemingly grants him some form of invincibility. The teaser shows him absorbing and repelling Magneto’s Ultimate Ability with his butt while posing for and taking a photo.
