A new report has shed some light on what the X-Men might be up to when they appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
What’s the latest information on the X-Men’s role in Avengers: Doomsday?
According to a new post from My Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, the X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday will not be the exact characters from the Fox universe of films, but instead different variants. Perez notes that the X-Men universe we see is a variant one, where “events similar to that” of the original trilogy and Days of Future Past occurred.
Perez notes that the universe that’s shown is one where humans and mutants co-exist in utopia. However, Perez mentions that what it took to get there, and what they had to sacrifice to succeed, is a big motif in Doomsday.
“What sacrifices had to be made for the greater good? And that question is the general motif of Doomsday. Not just for Magneto, but Sam, his Avengers, The Thunderbolts*, The Wakandans, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Steve Rogers, Thor, Loki, the TVA, the variants we see in this movie and most of all Doom,” writers Perez. “What would you be willing to sacrifice to gain what you want? To succeed? To save the ones you love? Your morals? Your beliefs? Your powers? Your mortality? Your life? The question isn’t are you prepared to die? The question is, who will you be, when you close your eyes?”
Perez also hinted at the arrival of Sentinels, sharing a post from a fan that just because they live in a utopia, there aren’t still people looking to go after them.
So far, Avengers: Doomsday featured a massive, star-studded cast, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man.
