Spider-Man: Brand New Day Confirms 3 Upgrades to Tom Holland’s Powers

New Spider-Man: Brand New Day promotional material confirms Spidey’s powers will receive three new upgrades. This means fans will witness the strongest version of Holland’s Spider-Man that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has shown so far.

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker gains organic webs and enhanced abilities

A new TV spot for Spider-Man: Brand New Day reveals Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has developed the ability to generate organic webs. Additionally, his agility has been increased, and his sensory perception has been heightened. This is confirmed by E.V., Parker’s own AI assistant, who says, “Body scan shows organic webs, heightened senses… Increased agility.”

That said, heightened senses and increased agility are trickier to break down, given that Spider-Man has always possessed these powers. However, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks the first time since Tobey Maguire’s live-action version that a variant has webs emerging directly from his body. It ties into the mysterious physical metamorphosis that Peter Parker undergoes over the course of the film, something Tom Holland has called a Spider-Puberty storyline.

The efficacy of the organic webs has also been teased in the trailers for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as Spidey is unloading an absurdly large amount of webbing after landing in a jail cell filled with ninjas from The Hand. This is probably the largest amount of webbing fired off that quickly in any Spider-Man movie to date.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the official synopsis of the film reads, “Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated to be released in theaters on July 31, 2026.
