Adam Driver’s rumored MCU role has fans divided, and most of them don’t even agree with the original report. Fans weigh in on what villain the actor should really play in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot.
Fans pick who Adam Driver could be playing in Marvel’s X-Men reboot
Social media accounts like Cosmic Marvel and MCU Film News report that Adam Driver has emerged as a favorite to play Magneto in Marvel’s upcoming live-action X-Men reboot. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello has also been tracking the casting news around the confirmed standalone X-Men film. The recent rumor has sparked significant debate among fans on social media.
Driver brings significant Hollywood credentials to the rumored casting. He received Oscar nominations for Marriage Story and BlacKkKlansman and earned Golden Globe nominations for both films as well as White Noise. His previous work in major franchises includes playing Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Fans on social media have reacted with strong opinions about Driver’s potential Marvel role. Many users actually believe he would fit better as Mr. Sinister rather than Magneto. One user wrote, “Casting is awesome but please don’t do Magneto. Give us villains we haven’t seen yet.” Another fan expressed similar enthusiasm, stating, “If this is true he’d make a dope Mr. Sinister.”
Other fans remain skeptical about the rumor’s reliability altogether. One user joked, “Can’t wait for tomorrow’s scoop saying he’s been replaced by another rumor.” Another quipped, “By the time Marvel officially announces the cast, every actor in Hollywood will have reportedly played Magneto once.” Some users also suggested Driver could portray Apocalypse instead of Magneto.
Marvel and parent company Disney have not officially confirmed any casting for the X-Men reboot. Ian McKellen previously defined the role of Magneto in the original X-Men trilogy. Michael Fassbender later took over the character in the prequel films.
