Denis Leary has lauded John Leguizamo’s performance in Ice Age 6 with a hilarious quip. The actor joked that his co-star is even better in the highly anticipated animated movie than in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
“You know how great he is in The Odyssey? He’s even better in Ice Age 6,” Leary declared in an interview with The Wrap at Disney’s D23 event. Queen Latifah, who also stars in the upcoming installment, agreed with Leary, saying, “This is true! Even better.”
Leary then jokingly shared a message from Christopher Nolan praising Leguizamo’s Ice Age 6 performance as Sid the Sloth.
The actor quipped, “Let me tell you something about his performance in The Odyssey. Christopher Nolan said, ‘It’s one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen in one of my movies. But I saw a sneak preview of Ice Age 6,’ this is Christopher Nolan talking, ‘and I’m telling you, that’s what he should get nominated for.’”
On a more serious note, Leary spoke highly of Leguizamo’s influence during the recording session for the Ice Age movies. “Everything starts with [Leguizamo],” the actor said. “Because when we record, when we get the script…he goes in first and he does his stuff and then he improvises off of his stuff. And then we all go in.” Leary concluded, saying, “It’s like we all depend on him.”

Who does John Leguizamo play in The Odyssey?
John Leguizamo starred in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey as Eumaeus. He is a blind swineherd and a faithful servant of King Odysseus. The actor has received widespread critical acclaim for his performance in the movie, amid growing Oscar buzz.
Meanwhile, fans are also excited for Leguizamo to reprise his role as Sid the Sloth in Ice Age: Boiling Point, the sixth installment of the beloved animated film series. Also returning are Ray Romano, Denis Leary, Simon Pegg, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lopez, and more. The movie hits theaters on February 5, 2027.
