Fans react to Dan Stevens as the new RoboCop
Dan Stevens’ casting as RoboCop has drawn major reactions from fans. Stevens himself has shared a reaction to the news. Taking to Instagram, he posted a clip that includes a photo of him with a box of a Hagane Works RoboCop action figure, manufactured by the Good Smile Company.
In the caption, Stevens wrote, “Buzz buzz…,” before adding a mechanical emoji. He then quoted the memorable franchise line, “Dead or alive, you’re coming with me…,” effectively confirming the news.
Stevens’ casting in the project has received mostly positive reactions from fans. One X (formerly Twitter) user shared under a post delivering the casting news, “I’ve never been more seated.” Another fan wrote, “Robocop is one of my fav Childhood heroes back then, so I can’t wait for the new one. Amazon’s gonna Cook.”
There was also a brief clip of Denzel Washington enthusiastically shaking hands with an interviewer during the press tour for Gladiator 2, indicating a fan’s excitement about the casting. In the comment section, another fan posted, “Frrl tho. He’s always been good. I like him from Legion.”
Film critic and podcaster John Rocha quoted a report about the casting and expressed his interest. “Whoa… interesting choice,” he posted. “I’m not saying no to this at all. I’m actually curious to see what this version will look like with Stevens leading the way. Better choice than Kinnaman [Joel Kinnaman] was, and more in line with Weller [Peter Weller]. I like it.”
Notably, Kinnaman portrayed Alex Murphy / RoboCop in the 2014 reboot movie, whereas Weller played the character in the 1987 film, its 1990 sequel, multiple video games, and other projects.
Prime Video’s RoboCop series currently doesn’t have a release date.
