Batman: Knightfall – Part 1 is already a hit on digital
Warner Bros. Animation has a certified success on its hands with Batman: Knightfall – Part 1. According to the current iTunes Top Movies chart, the first chapter of this highly anticipated trilogy sits at No. 2, trailing only an older catalog title. This makes it the highest-charting new release on the platform, beating out a mix of recent indies and legacy titles.
Directed by Jeff Wamester from a script by Jeremy Adams, the film adapts the iconic 1990s DC Comics saga. The voice cast features Anson Mount as Bruce Wayne, alongside Michael Mando and Pablo Schreiber. The story follows an exhausted Batman as he confronts the inmates of Arkham Asylum after Bane orchestrates a mass breakout. The narrative concludes with the physically broken hero yielding the mantle to Jean-Paul Valley, also known as Azrael, setting the arc for the darker Knightquest chapter.
The film premiered at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival before its digital release on August 25, 2026.
Motor City is yet generate interest on digital after box office flop
While Batman thrives, Motor City is stalling. The Alan Ritchson-led action film currently sits at No. 7 on the same iTunes chart. This digital performance follows a brutal theatrical run earlier this summer. Despite boasting a cast that includes Ben Foster, Shailene Woodley, and Pablo Schreiber, the film bombed financially, grossing only about $1.6 million domestically in its opening weekend against a reported production budget of $30 million.
Directed by Potsy Ponciroli, Motor City tells the story of John Miller, an ex-con seeking revenge against a Detroit gangster in 1977. The film notably minimizes dialogue, relying on a rock soundtrack and physical performance to drive the narrative. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival in August 2025 but sat on the shelf for nearly a year before its July 2026 release.
