Natalie Portman’s DC Movie Returns to Theaters for 20th Anniversary

Natalie Portman‘s critically acclaimed DC movie is returning to theaters to mark its 20th anniversary. Helmed by James McTeigue, the sci-fi dystopian film also featured Hugo Weaving and Stephen Fry, among others.

V for Vendetta, the provocative film drawn from the DC Vertigo graphic novel, will return to theaters later this year to mark 20 years since its 2006 debut. Upon its release, the film received positive reviews and instantly became a classic among critics and fans. Currently, it holds a 73% Tomatometer score and a solid 90% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.

A new anniversary trailer previews the film’s return to theaters.

V for Vendetta returns to theaters with a special 20th anniversary event

V for Vendetta will be rereleased in theaters for a two-day, 20th-anniversary event on November 1 and November 5, 2026. This time, an exclusive featurette with Director James McTeigue will also play before the film.

An official description for the film reads, “Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V for Vendetta tells the story of a young working-class woman named Evey, played by Natalie Portman, who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked man known only as V, played by Hugo Weaving.”

Fans who attend the screening will see Freedom Forever, an exclusive featurette with director McTeigue. He will reflect on the films and art that shaped it, the enduring mythology of V, and why its ideas of freedom, identity, and resistance continue to resonate today.

“The award-winning V for Vendetta graphic novel led to one of the most provocative films in the early 2000s. Twenty years later, V for Vendetta still asks the questions that matter: about freedom, identity, and who gets to speak up. Fathom is thrilled to bring this great movie back to theatres, featuring an exclusive new conversation with director James McTeigue for a whole new generation of audiences,” said Shannah Miller, Vice President of Marketing at Fathom Entertainment.
