Andrew Garfield has finally given his verdict on the best Spider-Man between Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and himself. The 43-year-old also made a confession about his favorite Peter Parker.
During an interview on Capital’s show, Garfield was asked the most inevitable question. The host asked him to “rank Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and yourself in order of best to worst Spider-Man.”
Garfield revealed, “Tobey’s always going to be my number one.” Explaining the reason, the acclaimed actor mentioned that Tobey was his favorite while growing up. “I was in drama school, and I would like to practice his lines in the mirror.”
He also admired Holland’s performance in the MCU movies. “I think Tom is the perfect person for it for his generation.” Disclosing his Spider-Man ranking, Garfield confirmed, “Tobey, Tom, then me.”
How Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield & Tom Holland shaped Spider-Man on screen
Tobey Maguire became the first-ever live-action Spider-Man to garner huge popularity thanks to Sam Raimi’s blockbuster trilogy. It kicked off in 2002 and wrapped up in 2007. Later, Andrew Garfield took on the fan-favorite role of Peter Parker in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man before returning with a sequel two years later.
However, it was Tom Holland’s iteration of Spider-Man that eventually won over most of the Marvel fans across the globe. After his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War, Holland kept on appearing as Peter Parker in his own blockbuster franchise that kicked off with Homecoming. It was followed by Far From Home, and then No Way Home, reuniting him with Tobey and Andrew’s Spider-Men.
Holland’s most recent appearance as Spider-Man was in Brand New Day. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie established new box office records since its release, making over $2.5 billion worldwide. Brand New Day also created history in North America. It became the highest-grossing film ever, surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
