Olivia Colman & Alexander Skarsgård’s Bizarre New Movie Wicker Grabs LA’s Attention

A mysterious billboard in Los Angeles is drawing attention to Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård’s upcoming film Wicker. The display features only woven wicker, without the film’s title, cast, and release date.

Images of the unusual promotion circulating online have sparked curiosity about the upcoming project. The material offers a subtle connection to the film’s premise, which revolves around an unconventional romance that sparks controversy in a small village.

What Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård’s Wicker is about

Wicker follows an ostracized fisherwoman, played by Colman, who struggles to find acceptance in her village. After being rejected because of her spinster status, she commissions a husband made of wicker. Skarsgård plays the creation, whose relationship with the woman soon attracts unwanted attention from the surrounding community. Their romance becomes a source of scandal, putting the couple at odds with the village’s social expectations. The story explores what happens when a personal choice challenges established ideas about marriage and companionship.

The film is based on Ursula Wills-Jones’ short story The Wicker Husband. Its premise offers a different take on romance, using an unconventional couple to explore loneliness, acceptance, and social pressure.

The cast also features Peter Dinklage, Elizabeth Debicki, Marli Siu, Nabhaan Rizwan, Richard E. Grant, and Ben Ashenden. Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer wrote and directed the project, which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in January.

Colman also serves as a producer alongside Ed Sinclair, Tom Carver, David Michôd, Brad Zimmerman, Justin Lothrop, Brent Stiefel, Andrea Cornwell, Oliver Kassman, Tim Headington, Lia Buman, Ryan Heller, and Michael Bloom. The executive producers are Ian M. Stratford, Jasmine Daghighian, Jennifer Westin, Neil Shah, Max Silva, and Lina Stroud. Black Bear Pictures acquired the film and will distribute it theatrically.

Wicker will open in the United States on October 23, 2026, and then in the United Kingdom on October 30.
