Street Fighter Cast Wants Crossover With Another Recent Video Game Movie That Fans Loved

The cast of Street Fighter is open to the idea of a crossover with another popular video game franchise. The actors have expressed interest in sharing the screen with characters from a rival fighting series. The crossover could bring two groups of iconic warriors together for a major cinematic showdown.

During an interview with IGN, the interviewer asked the cast if they would team up with Liu Kang and his allies to protect Earthrealm from villains such as Shao Kahn. The actors enthusiastically supported the possibility of a Mortal Kombat crossover. However, the studios have not announced any plans for such a project.

Andrew Schulz, who plays Dan Hibiki, joked about his attempts to get the two franchises together. He said, “This is what we were trying to do at [The Game Awards]! We’re trying to set this thing up!”

Noah Centineo, who portrays Ken Masters, also welcomed the prospect of returning to the role. He said, “If you bring an opportunity to us to be able to come back and reup these incredible characters, I’m down, and I know we’re all down.”

Mel Jarnson, who plays Cammy in Street Fighter and portrayed Nitara in Mortal Kombat II, also expressed enthusiasm for the idea, saying, “It would be epic.” She also joked about combining elements of the two characters.

What is the new Street Fighter movie about?

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the upcoming live-action adaptation brings Capcom’s long-running fighting game series to the big screen. Alongside Centineo, the film also stars Andrew Koji as Ryu and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. The supporting cast includes Cody Rhodes, David Dastmalchian, Schulz, Jarnson, Jason Momoa, and Vidyut Jamwal.

Set nearly a decade after the first World Warrior Tournament, the plot follows estranged best friends Ryu and Ken as they are pulled back into the ring when Chun-Li recruits them for a dangerous new tournament orchestrated by the criminal syndicate Shadaloo.

While the new film focuses squarely on Capcom’s roster, the door remains wide open for a potential gaming crossover in the near future. For now, Street Fighter is playing in theaters nationwide.
