Marvel Studios has zeroed in on its next antagonist for the Ryan Gosling-led Ghost Rider project. A fast-rising star from one of television’s buzziest shows is in talks to square off against Gosling when the Spirit of Vengeance hits screens in 2028.
Connor Storrie in talks to play the villain in Ghost Rider
Connor Storrie is reportedly negotiating to play the villain opposite Ryan Gosling in Marvel Studios’ Ghost Rider. Marvel hasn’t commented, and the studio has not revealed which character Storrie would play. Shawn Levy is directing the upcoming movie from a screenplay by Jonathan Tropper.
The pairing follows their collaboration on Star Wars: Starfighter with Gosling. Levy and Gosling produce alongside Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Stephen Broussard, with Richie Palmer and Jessie Henderson executive producing (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Marvel surprised fans with the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con this summer, and cameras will roll in New York in 2027 ahead of the July 28, 2028 release. Gosling has chased the part for years. “As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time,” he told the Hall H crowd.
Marvel created Ghost Rider in 1972 through writer Gary Friedrich, artist Mike Ploog, and editor Roy Thomas. The character follows Johnny Blaze, a stunt motorcyclist who trades his soul to the demon Mephisto and bonds with the Spirit of Vengeance. Nicolas Cage headlined two earlier Ghost Rider films in 2007 and 2011. Marvel has not confirmed which version of Ghost Rider Gosling will play, so Storrie’s villain remains a mystery.
Storrie broke out as Russian hockey star Ilya Romanov on Heated Rivalry, the Crave/HBO Max series now filming its Season 2. Since that November 2025 debut, he has booked Craig Zobel’s Turpentine with Melissa McCarthy, A24’s Please, Peaked from Molly Gordon, and The Bell Jar for Focus Features. He also scored an Emmy nomination for guest-hosting Saturday Night Live.
Now, landing a Ghost Rider villain role would be another major step for Connor Storrie as Marvel builds out the supernatural corner of its universe.
