Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider Adds Massive Talent From Dune Part 3

Marvel’s Ghost Rider just made a behind-the-scenes hire that could change how the entire film looks. Ryan Gosling’s upcoming Marvel movie has added a key crew member from one of the biggest sci-fi franchises in recent memory.

Shawn Levy’s Ghost Rider will reportedly be shot on film in New York

Shawn Levy’s upcoming Marvel Studios film Ghost Rider will shoot on location in New York, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The production has also tapped Linus Sandgren as director of photography. Notably, the project will shoot on film rather than digitally.

Sandgren brings significant experience to the role, having previously shot Dune: Part Three. His hiring signals Marvel’s commitment to a distinctive visual style for the film.

Ryan Gosling stars in the project, presumably as Johnny Blaze. The character first appeared in 1972’s Marvel Spotlight No. 5, where writer Gary Friedrich and artist Mike Ploog created the flaming skull-headed spirit of vengeance.

Meanwhile, Levy directs Ghost Rider after collaborating with Gosling on Star Wars: Starfighter. Jonathan Tropper, who also wrote Starfighter, penned the screenplay. Kevin Feige produces alongside Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Levy and Gosling.

Additionally, Connor Storrie is currently in talks to join the cast. The actor broke out with the hockey drama series Heated Rivalry in 2025. He would play an undisclosed villain opposite Gosling’s lead role.

Storrie rose to fame playing Russian hockey phenom Ilya Rozanov in the series. He has since landed an Emmy nomination for hosting Saturday Night Live and also filmed a role in Sarah Polley’s adaptation of The Bell Jar.

In the comics, Blaze is a stunt motorcycle driver who made a deal with the devil. He then becomes bonded with a demon and transforms into a fiery motorcycle-riding avenger. Nicolas Cage previously starred as the character in Sony’s earlier film adaptations.

Marvel first announced Ghost Rider at San Diego Comic-Con in July. The studio gave it a July 28, 2028 release date, with Richie Palmer and Jessie Henderson serving as executive producers.
