The first trailer for Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings Of Power has finally dropped showing us the Second Age of Middle-Earth.
In what feels like an eternity ago, Amazon bought up the rights to The Lord of the Rings Appendices from the Tolkien estate. These rights, in particular, involved the Second Age of Middle-Earth, which was quickly summed up in the prologue section of Peter Jackson’s trilogy. In particular, it began after Middle-Earth’s dark god Morgoth was imprisoned and ended when Sauron was destroyed. Soon after acquiring the rights, Amazon began work on a new series, committing a reported $1 billion to the project, making it the most expensive television show of all time.
As the years went on, more and more details emerged for The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings of Power, including the casting of a young Galadriel. As the release date for The Rings of Power draws ever closer, Amazon has finally started marketing for the series, including releasing a set of images revealing the its new characters and a teaser.
