Andrew Garfield Wants To Return As Spider-Man On These Conditions

Andrew Garfield revealed what it would take for him to return as Spider-Man in a new movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man films starring Andrew Garfield are not movies with great reputations. It’s widely known that the first film was only made so Sony could retain the rights to the franchise. While the first film was decently received at the box office and by critics, its follow-up, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was an absolute disaster.

While The Amazing Spider-Man 2 wasn’t a flop, it didn’t make the money that Sony was intending and caused them to reconsider all of their plans for the franchise. This eventually led to the deal that saw the character being recast again for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For some time however it was rumored that Andrew Garfield was going to return to the role for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

SPOILER ALERT FOR SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME

Throughout the year, Andrew Garfield repeatedly denied that he was involved in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This was eventually revealed to be a lie, and his version of the character joined Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland in their battles against their enemies. Reaction to his return has been overwhelmingly positive and many are hopeful that the actor will get a third solo film. In a recent interview with Variety Andrew Garfield revealed what it would take to get him to reprise the role once again:

“I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right. Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many. He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself.”
