DC Comics Teases A Woman Lead For ‘Batman Beyond’ Series

Batman Beyond may be making a few changes as DC Comics has teased that a woman could be donning Terry McGinnis’ outfit for a while.

The ongoing Batman Beyond series from DC Comics is a continuation of the Batman Beyond animated series that ran aired from 1999-2001. Taking place in a futuristic Gotham, a young man named Terry McGinnis accidentally stumbles upon Bruce Wayne’s decades-old secret. After more than a little convincing, Bruce Wayne allows Terry McGinnis to take on the role of Batman and the two battle new supervillains in Gotham. The series was put on hold after three seasons when creative teams shifted to the new Justice League series and was sadly never resumed. But Terry McGinnis’ has continued in various series from DC Comics over the years. But now it seems that Batman Beyond may be shaking things up a bit.

In the DC Comics Batman Beyond series, a woman has taken up the mantle of Batman, fighting the members of Gotham’s underworld and Terry McGinnis has gone missing. This apparently happened after Terry McGinnis battled an antagonist known as False Face and lost his memory and the cowl to her. This character appears to want to do good for the people of Gotham but that isn’t stopping Bruce Wayne from getting to the bottom of who has taken over the mantle of Batman.

What do you all think of this new development? Is this shake up what the Batman Beyond comic series needs? Has this run from DC Comics been a worthy successor to the animated series? Let us know what you think in the comics below!

Batman Beyond #39 from DC Comics is written by Dan Jurgens with artwork by Scot Eaton. It is set to be released on January 1st, 2020.
