Mobius actor Owen Wilson opened up his character’s twist in the fourth episode of Loki.
THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR LOKI.
Owen Wilson’s Mobius was one of Loki‘s most intriguing and exciting characters but his run on the Marvel series might have just come to a close. The fourth episode of the Tom Hiddleston-led show saw Mobius helping Loki escape the TVA after finding out that all TVA agents are variants – not purposeful creations by the Time Keepers. On his way to rescue Sylvie with Loki, Wilson’s Mobius is stopped by his boss, Renslayer, and promptly pruned for disobeying orders. It’s a moment that definitely gutted a lot of us at home as Mobius’ character quickly emerged as a fan favorite due to his skeptic but lighthearted nature.
Despite being pruned, Mobius could easily return to the series considering the post-credits showed Loki alive and well, just in a different pocket of time surrounded by other seemingly pruned variants. We’ll just have to wait and see what comes of Mobius’ fate, but it’s clear as day that should he return, his friendship with Renslayer is forever doomed. Chatting with Marvel.com, Owen Wilson opened about Mobius and how the once camaraderie-driven relationship with Renslayer quickly fizzled out.
“The relationship between Mobius and Renslayer, it’s the way you might have with your boss. Or when you’re back in school with the principal or someone in a position of authority and having to sort of try to charm them so you’re able to pursue your projects. That’s the dynamic between Mobius and Renslayer. She sort of loses patience with Mobius and with another one of his schemes. But, I think, she also sort of enjoys that he’s a little bit of a rascal.”
“It’s a little bit of a hall of mirrors within the whole series, that people aren’t quite who they seem to be. In the same way that Loki, when he lands in this bizarre place called the TVA, Mobius will have sort of the same struggles. What is this organization? And is it something that is worthy of his devotion?”
