See Henry Cavill Don Max Fleischer Superman Suit For DC Universe Return

A new concept design shows Henry Cavill returning to the role of Superman with an updated suit and the character’s iconic hairstyle.

Henry Cavill made his debut as Superman in Zack Snyder’s 2013 film Man of Steel. Although the film received mixed reviews from critics, fans really responded to his portrayal as Superman and looked forward to seeing him return in future projects. Cavill would reprise his role as Kal-El in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League, the latter of which would then lead to Zack Snyder’s director’s cut that released onto HBO Max in March 2021.

Henry Cavill recently reprised the role of Superman for the post-credits of Dwayne Johnson’s first cinematic solo outing as Black Adam. The British actor has expressed his desire to continue playing the character after the Black Adam movie, but Warner Bros. has yet to officially announce a sequel to Man of Steel. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from expressing their hopes to see him with the cape again.

In artist Javier Sanchez’s case, he envisions Henry Cavill’s return as Superman in an interesting way. In this cool concept design, we see the actor donning a suit clearly taking inspiration from the classic design as seen from early comics. The suit harkens back to both Action Comics #1 and Max Fleischer’s designs. The concept also depicts him in the iconic hairstyle made famous from previous portrayals of the character. Check out the design below.

According to a recent report, Henry Cavill’s Superman return is already suffering setbacks. With James Gunn and Peter Safran now in charge of Warner Bros Discovery’s DC Entertainment assets, Cavill has yet to sign a deal for a new Superman movie. There is currently no forward momentum on a Superman project as Gunn and Safran continue working on their plans for the DC Universe.

James Gunn is said to be focusing on the creative direction of the DC Universe, with Peter Safran working on business and production. The two report directly to Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav. Whether their plans involve a Superman movie starring Henry Cavill remains to be seen.
