Square Enix Releases New Story Trailer For ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Video Game

Square Enix has released a new story trailer for its upcoming Marvel video game, Guardians of the Galaxy.

Since the release and success of Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4, video game companies have been eager to cash in on the popularity of comic book properties. The game’s follow-up, Spider-Man: Miles Morales was released to similar praise to its predecessor with the developers now working on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine for the PlayStation 5. In addition, Firaxis Games is working on a strategy-based RPG titled Marvel’s Midnight Sons for a 2022 release. More recent releases with significantly less praise, however, have been Square Enix’s attempts to develop comic-based video games.

Released last year to mixed reception, Marvel’s Avengers was Square Enix’s first attempt at a modern superhero game. Heroic Hollywood gave the game a 5/10 and reportedly lost the company over $63M. This, however, has not stopped Square Enix from continuing to develop games for the franchise and released a trailer for a new Guardians of the Galaxy game earlier this year. During the Playstation Showcase 2021 a new trailer for the game was released showing us what the main story for the game would revolve around.
