Star Wars: ‘The Acolyte’ Will Reportedly Begin Filming Early 2022

The series will be filming in London.

Star Wars: The Acolyte may begin filming as early as next year.

Disney is doubling down on live-action Star Wars shows after the success of The Mandalorian. Lucasfilm has commissioned a bevy of original Star Wars shows, including a Boba Fett and an Ahsoka series that will expand on those already existing characters. What’s even more exciting is that Lucasfilm will be developing shows that expand on the already existing Star Wars saga, giving us further context into the series’ timeline. One such show is Star Wars: The Acolyte, which is being developed by Russian Doll scribe Leslye Headland and Lucasfilm exec Rayne Roberts.

According to Discussing Film, Lucasfilm wants to start production on Star Wars: The Acolyte as soon as February 2022 in London, England. The London location suggests that The Acolyte will be using “The Volume”, the LED panel room housed at Pinewood Studios that was used to film The Mandalorian. The same report also suggests that the creative team is searching for a woman of color to portray the protagonist. Details are relatively slim on what The Acolyte will consist of, though it has been confirmed that the series will take place during the final days of the High Republic. With the sinister title in mind, perhaps it will deal with the Sith infiltrating the Jedi?
