Tom Holland & Zendaya Want In On Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse

Tom Holland and Zendaya want to lend their voice talents to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

We are officially one week away from the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and while all eyes are on that film’s long-awaited release, last week’s first look at the animated sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) caught the internet by storm. The first film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse received universal acclaim and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. It’s safe to say that the animated realm of the webhead has its fair share of fans, including actors Tom Holland and Zendaya.

Tom Holland and Zendaya, both of which play Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Michelle “MJ” Jones respectively love the animated film. So much so, that the two are interested in lending their voice talents to the franchise – potentially in a follow-up to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Zendaya told SYFY Wire during a Spider-Man: No Way Home press conference that she’s a big fan of the animated Spider-Verse series, and Tom Holland also made it clear that they along with their co-star, Ned Leeds actor Jacob Batalon want to take part in Across the Spider-Verse in the future:

“Love them and I’m just waiting for the phone call. Guys, call us. Put us in your movie, we want to be in it.”

Interestingly enough, there were in fact plans for Tom Holland to lend his voice to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse alongside fellow actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. However, Sony Pictures rejected the idea due to the fact that they thought it would be “too soon.” If rumors are to be believed, perhaps we will finally see those three share the screen come next week.

Tom Holland and Zendaya will next appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Here is the synopsis:

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield heavily rumored to appear.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will hit theaters on December 17, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the film as well as the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
