Tony Curran will be joining Grant Gustin for the eighth season of The Flash as Despero.
The eighth season of Grant Gustin’s The Flash is set to debut on The CW in mid-November. It was revealed earlier this week that The Flash’s season 8 premiere would comprise of five parts and that it would feature numerous villains and heroes from the Arrowverse. Fans can expect to see Brandon Routh’s Atom, Javicia Leslie’s Batwoman, and Cress William’s Black Lightning in the five-part event series titled Armageddon. If that wasn’t enough to get fans excited, season 8 is set to feature a brand new villain.
With anticipation through the roof for The CW show’s return, Deadline reports that Ray Donavon star Tony Curran will be suiting up as the villain Despero for the upcoming season. Curran is currently filming for the Grant Gustin-led series.
Tony Curran has had a prolific career on both the big and silver screen, and now he’s about to make his supervillain debut as Despero. The character first appeared all the way back in the 1960s with Justice League of America #1, certifying him as one of the OG villains in the DC mythos. The villain is a powerful alien with telekinetic powers who has left his homeworld of Kalanor. Now, Despero will cross paths with Team Flash whilst on a mission on Earth.
You can read the premise for The Flash‘s season eight premiere below:
“A powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances and Barry (Grant Gustin), Iris (Candice Patton) and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world. But with time running out, and the fate of humanity at stake, Flash and his companions will also need to enlist the help of some old friends if the forces of good are to prevail.”
The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, and Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton.
