Jason Momoa and 50 Cent are bringing some of gaming’s most recognizable fighting characters to the big screen. Their new movie Street Fighter opens in theaters today, October 16, 2026. Both stars portray characters from the popular fighting game series.

Momoa plays Blanka, while rapper and actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson takes on the role of Balrog. The cast also includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. David Dastmalchian appears as the villain M. Bison, joining a lineup that brings several familiar game characters together.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter adapts Capcom’s long-running fighting game series into a live-action action movie. The story takes place in 1993 and follows Ryu and Ken, two fighters whose relationship has become strained. Their lives change when Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament.

The tournament soon takes a dangerous turn as Ryu and Ken uncover a hidden conspiracy. They must face powerful opponents while dealing with their shared past. The film also brings together fighters with different abilities, backgrounds, and motivations.

The movie’s ensemble may remind some viewers of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which brings characters from different gaming franchises together in a single fighting game. However, Street Fighter is a separate adaptation based on Capcom’s own fighting game franchise, rather than a Super Smash Bros. movie.

The supporting cast includes WWE stars Roman Reigns as Akuma and Cody Rhodes as Guile. Indian actor and martial artist Vidyut Jammwal plays Dhalsim, while comedian Andrew Schulz portrays Dan Hibiki. Momoa also serves as a producer on the film, alongside Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Takayuki Nakayama, and Stefan Makhoul.

Highlighting the property’s massive cultural reach, Capcom confirmed that the Street Fighter video game franchise had surpassed 60 million copies sold worldwide by June 30, 2026.
