Avengers: Doomsday star Florence Pugh has revealed a surprising cast member she had the most fun working with during its production. Pugh will reprise the role of Yelena Belova, the current Black Widow, in the upcoming film.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Pugh was asked which actor’s company she enjoyed the most between her Marvel appearances and Dune: Part Three. Without missing a beat, Pugh replied that it was Channing Tatum on the set of the upcoming Avengers film. “He’s so fun!” she said.
At one point, Tatum was set to star in a solo Gambit film, though the film never became a reality. Tatum had been a fan-favorite casting for the character for years. Finally, Tatum debuted in the MCU as Gambit in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. He will reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday features one of the MCU’s biggest casts. Pugh, who debuted in 2021’s Black Widow, has appeared in various MCU projects over the years, quickly becoming a fan favorite. Her interactions with Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man have become cherished moments by fans.
Pugh’s comments about working with Tatum make their dynamic a new highlight to look forward to in the film. She was also put in an awkward spot by Nightcrawler actor Alan Cumming recounting an incident from the film’s production.
The upcoming Avengers film will unite the New Avengers, led by Yelena, with the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. Pugh was also the focus of Marvel’s new PSA encouraging viewers to silence their phones in theaters. The film will also bring back Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. into the franchise as Steve Rogers and Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters on December 18, 2026, alongside Dune: Part Three.
