Marvel Studios could reportedly bring back a fan-favorite version of Hulk in Avengers: Secret Wars. A recent rumor suggests that the character could return with the same personality and characterization seen in Thor: Ragnarok. The possibility comes as Marvel prepares for its next major Avengers film and has already generated considerable excitement among fans.
Avengers: Secret Wars rumored to bring back Thor: Ragnarok like Hulk
Avengers: Secret Wars could reportedly feature the version of Hulk last seen in Thor: Ragnarok. The rumor comes from Marvel insider Alex Perez, who addressed the character’s role in the upcoming film during an August 2026 Q&A with members of his Discord and Patreon communities.
A fan specifically asked whether Anthony and Joe Russo would continue with the Savage Hulk for Secret Wars and whether Eric Bana could also return as the character. In response, According to The Cosmic Circus, Perez pointed to the version of the character introduced in Thor: Ragnarok.
He said, “Do you guys remember the Hulk we saw during Thor: Ragnarok? That’s the Hulk you’re going to get.” His answer suggests that Secret Wars could once again portray Hulk with the more humorous and outspoken personality he displayed in Taika Waititi’s 2017 film.
Perez was less certain when the discussion turned to Bana. Asked about the actor’s possible involvement in Secret Wars, he simply said, “I haven’t heard anything about Eric Bana.” Bana previously played Bruce Banner in Ang Lee’s 2003 Hulk. However, there is currently no information from Perez indicating that the actor is being considered for the upcoming Marvel film.
The Hulk speculation comes as Marvel continues to build toward its next two major Avengers releases. Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
