Tom Rhys Harries has teased a “f–ing sick” final form for Clayface that fans won’t see until the movie’s theatrical debut. DCU‘s first-ever R-rated entry is directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini.
The actor playing the titular role in the upcoming movie has promised that fans will be shocked by the final monster form of Clayface. “It’s fucking sick!” he said in an interview with Empire.
In the film, Rhys Harries will play Matt Hagen/Clayface. The ensemble cast also features Naomi Ackie (Mickey 17), David Dencik (The Chestnut Man), and more.
Tom Rhys Harries recalls shocking friends with Clayface’s melting face
Besides teasing his final form, Tom Rhys Harries also revealed how he shocked his friends during production with the prosthetics applied to his face to create a melting effect.
“I’d have family members or friends of mine who, after time, normalise the fact that they’re talking to me but half my face is disintegrating”, he recalled. Tom also mentioned that his friends would even “introduce me to somebody on FaceTime. That was funny!”
The White Lines actor also made it clear that the movie “won’t go soft” in its treatment of the body-horror aspect of Clayface and other dark elements.
“When we were at San Diego Comic-Con, people were like, ‘I hope you don’t go soft.’ And I’m like, ‘Trust me, we don’t go soft,’” he said.
Clayface’s cast also includes Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale), Eddie Marsan (The Bombing of Pan Am 103), Nancy Carroll (Murder in Provence), and Joshua James.
Matt Reeves, Lynn Harris, James Gunn, and Peter Safran are the producers. Michael E. Uslan, Chantal Nong Vo, Lars P. Winther, Paul Ritchie, Rafi Crohn, and Trevor Macy are serving as the executive producers. Volker Bertelmann has composed the soundtrack for the film.
