Travis Knight discusses a possible He-Man sequel after Prime Video success

Director Travis Knight recently spoke with ScreenRant about the future of the Masters of the Universe franchise. The film earned $114 million worldwide against a reported budget between $170 and $200 million. It significantly underperformed at the box office but dominated Prime Video’s charts as the platform’s top movie for five straight weeks.

Knight acknowledged that sequel decisions remain beyond his control. “It was such a joy making that movie; I had so much fun working with that team,” he said. “If the universe, in its wisdom, asks us to make more of these things, we would be delighted to give them more.” He added that filmmakers must put everything into each project and hope it connects with audiences.

The film’s ending leaves several storylines open for a potential follow-up. Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) has returned to Eternia and fully embraced the power of Grayskull. A post-credits scene introduces his twin sister, Princess Adora/She-Ra (Lauren Saliu), in the Fright Zone. Knight previously confirmed She-Ra would play a major role in any sequel. A separate post-credits scene teases Skeletor’s (Jared Leto) return through Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie).

The Fright Zone’s live-action debut also opens the door for franchise villain Hordak. He could potentially serve as the main antagonist instead of Skeletor. Critics gave the film a mixed 67% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences responded more favorably with an 85% approval rating.

A direct-to-Prime Video sequel remains one possible path forward for the franchise. The film’s strong streaming performance and Knight’s enthusiasm could support that approach. The cast includes Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, and Kristen Wiig alongside Galitzine.
