In the finale of Crisis on Infinite Earths, it was established that Stargirl takes place on the new Earth 2. The CW subsequently dropped a new trailer for Stargirl that formally introduced Brec Bassinger’s Courtney Whitmore. Although Courtney wasn’t born with any powers of her own, she’s about to discover her heroic destiny.
The trailer also established that the first generation of superheroes, the Justice Society, have been eliminated. Courtney’s stepfather, Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) was there when Starman (Joel McHale) died. Pat was supposed to protect Starman’s cosmic staff and keep it from falling into the wrong hands. However, Courtney found the staff and it works for her even when it seemingly shouldn’t have.
Naturally, Pat’s not going to let Courtney take on this burden alone. That’s why he’s got the S.T.R.I.P.E. armor, as seen in the trailer. Together with a new generation of heroes, Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E. are going to create their own legends.
Although Stargirl was produced as a DC Universe original series, it will also be airing on the CW. Essentially, they are sharing custody of the show, with DC Universe premiering the episodes a day before the CW airs them.
Stargirl will premiere on The CW and DC Universe in Spring 2020.
