According to Box Office Mojo, the movie earned $3.1 million at the domestic box office during its theatrical run. Moreover, it currently holds a 56% Tomatometer and a 60% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. This supernatural horror film went on to receive two sequels and a 2009 remake.

What is Night of the Demons about?

Night of the Demons features a combination of classic horror elements, including a Halloween night gathering, a séance, and a group of rebellious teenagers who get more than they bargained for.

The official synopsis reads, “Ten teenagers party at an abandoned funeral parlor on Halloween night. When an evil force awakens, demonic spirits keep them from leaving and turn their gathering into a living Hell.” The movie stars Cathy Podewell, Alvin Alexis, Hal Havins, Allison Barron, Harold Ayer, Billy Gallo, Karen Ericson, Lance Fenton, Donnie Jeffcoat, and Linnea Quigley.

Although it received mixed reviews, the popularity of the movie back then led to Night of the Demons 2, which was released in 1994, and Night of the Demons 3, which was released in 1997.

The second installment retains the demonic horror themes surrounding Hull House but shifts its focus to Angela’s younger sister and a group of students. The third installment follows a group of teenagers who seek refuge in the haunted house.
