Three months ago, the Black Widow was taken off of the board. A cabal of the Widow’s greatest enemies kidnapped Natasha Romanoff and made her forget who and what she really is. As part of their revenge plan, they set “Natalie” up with a new life in San Francisco, complete with a new fiancé, James, and their infant son, Steve. Hawkeye, the Winter Soldier, and Yelena Belova found Natasha, but they were also reluctant to pull her out.
Even the villains were reluctant to risk reawakening Black Widow’s true self. However, the Weeping Lion attempted a hit on Natasha and her new family that appears to have finally jogged her memories loose.
In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview for Black Widow #4, Kelly Thompson and artist Elena Casagrande show us that Natasha survived the attempt to fry her brain with an implant. Now that she truly is the Black Widow again, Natasha has to find some way to get her family out alive. Additionally, artist Carlos Gomez will draw a flashback sequence for this issue. But we’ll have to wait a week to see his pages.
Here’s the official description from Marvel.
“WHAT LIES BENEATH? The plan to take the Black Widow off the table unravels as the Black Widow inside Natasha continues to wake. But Natasha has more to lose now than ever before, and the choices she makes will define her life forever. As for her enemies that have joined against her…they have badly underestimated her…a fatal error.”
