Guardians of the Galaxy Actor on Reprising MCU Role After Big Vol. 3 Sequel Tease

Guardians of the Galaxy actor Sean Gunn spoke with ComingSoon‘s Tyler Treese about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Gunn is known for his motion-capture work as Rocket Raccoon and for playing Yondu Udonta’s right-hand man, Kraglin, in the MCU.

While there’s no official word on the next entry in the franchise, Gunn says he’s ready to discuss a return if he gets a call. Gunn stated, “If Marvel calls me about playing Kraglin again, I will answer the phone. I would put it that way. I feel close to the character. I love playing him. And if he had a future in the Marvel Universe, I would love to explore that and see where it goes.”

However, Gunn said if a Kraglin return doesn’t happen, it won’t impact his fandom of Marvel. “I’ll [still] be first in line to get tickets to whatever movies they’re putting out because they’re still making great stuff,” the actor shared.

What happens at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 saw the team disband and go their separate ways. Star-Lord chose to retire to Earth to spend time with his family. This allowed Rocket to lead a new iteration of the team. The new Guardians of the Galaxy mixed new and old characters. As of the end of Vol. 3, the roster included Rocket, Groot, Cosmo the Space Dog, Adam Warlock, Phyla, Adam’s pet Blurp, and Kraglin.

The old team went their separate ways and embarked on adventures of their own. Drax and Nebula remained on Knowhere, where they looked after the children they rescued from The High Evolutionary. Mantis embarked on a journey of self-discovery. Gamora, who was the time-displaced version of the character who died in Infinity War, rejoined the Ravagers. Groot and Rocket remained the only original Guardians on the new team.

If Guardians of the Galaxy gets another movie, Kraglin, now part of the core team, will likely appear again, played by Sean Gunn.
