Harry Potter TV Show Shooting Schedule Gets Exciting Update From HBO Boss

As production continues on the first season of Harry Potter, HBO boss Casey Bloys has finally addressed the creative team’s plans for the shooting schedule of the fantasy show’s future seasons. The TV adaptation is expected to make its debut sometime in early 2027.

HBO boss assures Harry Potter show will have short filming gaps between seasons

During a recent press event, Casey confirmed that the show’s writers have already begun working on the Harry Potter Season 2 scripts as part of the creative team’s release strategy. Due to its young cast’s ages, they want the production of each season to be as close as possible to each other to prevent huge time gaps between seasons.

“I don’t know if it’s going to be like stop shooting Season 1 on Friday and start Season 2 on Monday — there will be a break in there,” Bloys said. “But we’re going to do whatever we can to not have a huge gap, for the kids, obviously, but also for viewers. We’re trying not to have massive gaps. It is a big show, lots of special effects, obviously, a massive operation. But we’re going to do what we can, for the kids’ ages, but for viewers as well.”

The Harry Potter TV show is being led by newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as the titular character, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. Joining them are John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland as George Weasley, and more.

The HBO adaptation is written and executive produced by showrunner Francesca Gardiner (Killing Eve, Succession), with Mark Mylod serving as its director. It will be a faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter book series, featuring an exciting and talented cast to lead a new generation of fandom. Executive producers are Mylod, Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and long-time Harry Potter franchise producer David Heyman. It is a production by HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
