Marvel might have just teased fans about Doctor Doom killing a Kang variant in Avengers: Doomsday. At a recent promotional event, viewers caught a glimpse of an iconic scene from one of the comic book panels.
Here are the details on what the tease was and how it could be utilized in the upcoming MCU team-up movie.

Avengers: Doomsday theory shows how Doctor Doom will kill Kang
For the last few phases, Marvel has been setting up Kang to be the major villain for the Multiverse Saga. But after bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, Kang might not be around for too long.
In a recent promotional light show at a Walt Disney Studios Marketing Expo in Shanghai, China, Marvel showcased Doom holding up a skeleton with a victorious stance. This is a directed reference to a panel from Secret Wars (2015) #8. It is written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Esad Ribic and Alex Ross.
In the mentioned comic issue, this occurs when Thanos orders Doom to kneel before him. But instead, Doom thrusts his hand through Thanos’ chest and rips out his skeleton. While this incident might have happened between Doom and Thanos, fans believe that Marvel could recreate it differently in Doomsday.
Theories suggest that the skeleton that Doom is holding is not Thanos, but Kang. It suggests that Doom might encounter a Kang variant and brutally kill him, as showcased in the light show. The story could revolve around Doom hunting down every Kang variant early in Avengers: Doomsday. Given that Thanos is snapped away in Avengers: Endgame, it is highly unlikely that Doom could encounter him.
Another theory suggests that Doom could encounter a Thanos variant and kill him, staying true to the comics. This could serve as a great intro for the God Emperor Doom, which is how he’s portrayed in the 2015 Secret Wars storyline.
The filming for Avengers: Doomsday is currently underway and is scheduled for a December 18, 2026, release.
