Avengers: Secret Wars could bring back two iconic characters, including the beloved Iron Man, according to a new rumor. The highly anticipated MCU film is set to hit theaters next year.
Marvel insider @MyTimeToShineH recently shared a surprising scoop on X. After claiming that Iron Man/Tony Stark would return in Secret Wars, the insider added, “Tony Stark isn’t the only one coming back.” They also teased that “someone else” would appear in the upcoming film.
While the scooper has got a credible track record, fans should still take the latest rumor with a grain of salt unless Marvel shares an official update on Secret Wars’ cast.
Marvel’s biggest MCU comebacks may still be waiting to be revealed
Following the latest rumor, fans will be eager to learn which major character could join Iron Man in returning to the MCU. However, several other heroes may also make a comeback in Avengers: Doomsday and its follow-up, Secret Wars.
Several characters have been absent from the superhero franchise since their last appearances. Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, for instance, was last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, a recent update from the actor himself suggests that the character could return soon.
Then there’s Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. She was last seen in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she seemingly died at the end of the film. However, recent rumors suggest she will return in Doomsday, potentially appearing in the post-credits scene. She is also rumored to have a larger role in Secret Wars.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. The massive ensemble cast includes Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/Black Widow, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, and several others.
Avengers: Secret Wars is set to follow in theaters on December 17, 2027.
