Many Swifties are wondering if there will be a Taylor Swift popcorn bucket for her upcoming “The Life of a Showgirl” movie experience. Officially called the Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, the celebratory promotion will be available from October 3 to 5 in select theaters and features the premiere of her new music video for “The Fate of Ophelia” single from her “The Life of a Showgirl” album. It’s no surprise that fans would expect some merch or collectible cups for this film since her prior Eras Tour movie had a slew of novelty popcorn buckets and cups for sale. Here’s what we know so far about any Taylor Swift collectibles for her 2025 movie.
Will there be a Taylor Swift popcorn bucket or collectible cups?
No, it looks like there will no merchandise for the Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl in theaters. This means that there will be no popcorn buckets nor collectible drinkware for the film.
This information comes from TikTok user madwomakyla, a self-described general manager named Kyla who has worked at an unspecified theater chain for 15 years. Her channel features more than several videos of her at the theater celebrating the upcoming film as a Swiftie herself.
In a video posted on September 19, she reveals that there will be no collector items for the movie, specifically reading off a tablet with what sounds like a contract that “due to licensing agreements, no promotional items, cups, or merchandise related to the film or artist will be made, and none may be sold or displayed at any theater.” On top of that, it warns that the theater chain should “not make any additional merchandise or marketing materials” for the film.
Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl is expected to earn somewhere between $30 million and $50 million at the box office domestically, which is noticeably less than $93 million opening for The Eras Tour. But that’s no surprise given that this upcoming film doesn’t feature a full concert. Still, it will enough content to fill roughly a hour and a half and combine lyric videos, behind-the-scenes footage, and commentary from Taylor Swift on the album.
In March, a rumor began swirling that Taylor Swift could appear as a superhero in a future movie from Marvel or DC.
