Jason Momoa Officially Starts Work on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Just a few weeks ago, James Wan took to Instagram to announce that cameras were finally rolling on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. But it looks like they’ve been shooting without their leading man this whole time, because yesterday, Jason Momoa shared his own video to confirm that he had just touched down in the U.K. to start work on the upcoming sequel. Check out what he had to say below.

In the video, Momoa expressed his excitement to reunite with Wan and his returning castmates from the first film, which so far includes Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane/Black Manta. He also revealed that he would be dying his hair to match Arthur Curry’s traditionally blonde mane. In his early DCEU appearances, Momoa sported blonde highlights in honor of his character’s comic book appearances. But it’s not clear if he’ll be taking on a more platinum look for the new film.

Momoa also gave a shoutout to to his team on Apple TV+’s See, which will premiere its second season on August 27 and resume filming season 3 later this year. Additionally, he found time to plug his line of Harley Davidson menswear inspired by his  Hawaiian roots.

Wan is directing Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom from a screenplay by the original movie’s co-writer, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Momoa also contributed to the film’s story. So far, the only new addition to the cast is former Game of Thrones actor Pilou Asbæk, but the identity of his character is still a mystery.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
