Jenna Ortega Makes Shocking Career Announcement Answering the Marvel Question

Jenna Ortega shut down franchise speculation and dropped a major career bombshell during a recent podcast appearance. The Wednesday star addressed whether she’s had conversations with major franchises and revealed her surprising plans for life after the hit Netflix series.

Jenna Ortega on if she has had conversations on franchises like Marvel

Jenna Ortega revealed she hasn’t fielded many franchise pitches during her appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast on Oct. 22. The actress discussed her future career plans while promoting her latest film, Klara and the Sun.

“I actually haven’t had a lot of franchise really conversations,” Ortega told host Josh Horowitz. She added a philosophical note about her approach to career opportunities. “What I’m meant to do will come and find me,” she said. The 24-year-old actress did not name any specific studios or properties during the discussion.

Ortega then pivoted to her plans after Wednesday wraps up its run on Netflix. “I think after Wednesday, I’ll probably be off the TV for a while,” she stated. She cited her lengthy history in television as the reason for wanting a break. “I was bouncing from show to show as a kid just to this and I want to leave time for new things,” she explained.

Page Six reported on Ortega’s comments, noting her willingness to step away from the spotlight isn’t new. She previously exited the Scream franchise after starring in two installments. The actress also revealed earlier this year that she nearly quit acting before landing her role on You.

Season 3 of Wednesday completed production in September 2026 and is set for release in 2027. The upcoming season features new additions Winona Ryder and Eva Green alongside returning cast members. Ortega earned an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of the iconic Addams family character. The show has won four Emmys since its 2022 premiere.

Ortega currently stars in Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun alongside Amy Adams. She also has several film projects in development, including Nasty with Rose Byrne and The Great Beyond with Glenn Powell and J.J. Abrams.
