Jeremy Allen White may have competition for Marvel’s most coveted mutant role. A new report claims another major actor has also met with the studio about playing Wolverine in the upcoming X-Men reboot.
Rumor suggests another big actor could be Marvel’s new Wolverine
Scooper MyTimeToShineHello claims Marvel is talking to multiple actors about the Wolverine role right now. “Jeremy Allen White isn’t the only one in talks,” the insider wrote on X. “Another big name just met with Marvel about Wolverine as well.” The identity of this second actor remains completely unknown at this time.
The new claim builds on earlier reports about White meeting the studio for the upcoming X-Men reboot. Jeff Sneider of TheInSneider first reported that the Emmy winner sat down with Marvel executives recently. White could reportedly start with a brief cameo before stepping into a much larger role later.
At 5-foot-7, the actor brings a more comic-accurate physical profile to the part than Hugh Jackman. Marvel’s clawed mutant stands just 5-foot-3 and weighs roughly 200 pounds in the source material. Fans have long called for a shorter, stockier actor to bring that accuracy to the big screen.
White already carries strong acting credentials from his award-winning television career across multiple hit shows. He won an Emmy for his standout performance as Carmen Berzatto in FX’s acclaimed series The Bear. He also built a loyal fan base through his decade-long role as Lip Gallagher in Shameless.
Still, the actor has recently faced notable challenges at the box office with his latest two films. His Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere pulled in just $45.2 million worldwide across all markets. Meanwhile, The Social Reckoning has earned only an estimated $16.9 million globally in theatrical release so far.
A major Marvel role could therefore offer White a fresh path to blockbuster commercial success. However, Marvel has not confirmed any meetings or casting decisions for the iconic Wolverine role yet. The studio also continues to keep all details about the mutant team’s place in the MCU under wraps.
