Lanterns Episode 7 trailer previews Hal Jordan’s murder mystery
The trailer builds on the midseason preview HBO dropped on September 17. That longer teaser confirmed that the Halogram construct of Hal Jordan returns for the final episodes. The ghostly version of Jordan pushes John to investigate his apparent murder in Rushville, Nebraska. John responds to Jordan’s questioning with blunt skepticism. “Could’ve been anyone,” he says. “Whole town hated you. I think you’re being paranoid.” Jordan fires back with equal sharpness. “Well, I think being murdered allows for a little paranoia.”
The midseason trailer also revealed several key plot threads for the remaining episodes. Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner visits John behind bars and tells him he cannot help solve the murder. “It’s bad optics,” Gardner explains. John pushes back and insists Gardner owes him a debt. Ulrich Thomsen’s Sinestro also appears with a cryptic tease. “Hal didn’t have to die in vain,” he says. “I know a way.” His words suggest a potential resurrection plan or deeper scheme.
Episode 6 revealed that Hal took the fall for John after the 2016 Rushville disaster. He spent the intervening decade dealing with the consequences of that choice. The midseason trailer also showed the 2026 version of Hal waking up as a prisoner before his body turns up frozen.
Lanterns Episode 7 premieres Sunday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.
