Marvel Zombies’ MCU Easter Eggs & References Listed

Marvel Zombies dropped its four-episode season on September 24, 2025, and it looks rich with Marvel references and Easter Eggs, most tying to MCU films or beyond. These references made things more interesting for Marvel fans.

Here is a complete list of references and easter eggs that made this series stand out.

List of major Marvel Zombies easter eggs and MCU references

Here are all the major MCU references in Marvel Zombies:

  • Red Guardian vs Captain America- This iconic sequence saw the Red Guardian finally face off against at least more than half of Captain America (his lower half was severed by his own shield).
  • The North Institute- After its part in 2020’s Back Widow, The North Institute in Ohio made an appearance in Marvel Zombies.
  • Ms. Marvel v Captain Marvel- Interestingly, this turned Ms. Marvel’s narrative on its head with Kamal Khan having to take on Captain Marvel’s undead version in the dark MCU timeline.
  • The Hulk Containment Cell- A reference to the original Avengers, where a cell was built to contain the Hulk in case he went into his rage mode. Zemo activated a containment cell on Namor that was originally meant for the Hulk.
  • What If…? zombie survivors- This clever move saw how Marvel Zombies integrated What If…?’s zombie episode into the narrative. Marvel Zombies episode 3 opened by revealing what happened to the survivors of that episode from What If…?
  • The Watcher- The Watcher also returned to this project in his familiar role, connecting it to other Marvel animated projects.
  • Wanda chasing after a kid- This time, Wanda wanted Ms. Marvel’s powers to amplify her own. This is a reference to Multiverse of Madness, where Wanda also chased after a kid, but for completely different reasons, of course.
  • Zombie Thor v Infinity Hulk- A great reference to the iconic Thor: Ragnarok fight scene, this reference saw an upgraded Thor taking on an upgraded Hulk.

These references are an exceptional way of paying tribute to the source material without losing out on the originality of this one.

Marvel Zombies is now streaming on Disney+.
