Marvel just revealed the first two names behind its mysterious new spy thriller, and their resume includes one of TV’s biggest hits. The MCU’s Phase 7 slate grows as Zodiac locks in two veteran creators with deep roots in espionage storytelling.
Marvel’s Zodiac series hires its two writers
Amit Cohen and Ron Leshem will write Marvel’s upcoming spy thriller series Zodiac for Disney+, Deadline reports. Specifically, the show follows two spies chasing targets who possess special abilities. Production is set to begin in 2027, with a premiere planned for 2028.
Marvel first announced the series on October 8, but shared few details at the time. However, Cohen and Leshem bring a strong track record of collaborative television work to the project. Notably, the pair has created and produced multiple acclaimed series across Israeli and American markets.
Leshem co-created the original Israeli Euphoria series, which HBO later adapted with Sam Levinson directing and Zendaya in the lead role. Additionally, Cohen and Leshem together created and executive produced Israeli shows Trust No One, Bad Boy, 8200, Red Skies, and Traitor. For U.S. audiences, the duo also created the Hulu drama No Man’s Land.
Meanwhile, Zodiac joins a shrinking Marvel live-action television lineup on Disney+. The WandaVision trilogy wraps up this month with VisionQuest, which premiered October 13 and airs weekly through November 10. Similarly, Daredevil: Born Again welcomed back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones but will conclude with Season 3 next year.
Elsewhere, Wonder Man became a single-season series after Marvel chose not to renew it for a second run. Still, lead actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance. The nomination represented Marvel’s first acting Emmy recognition since the studio earned nominations for WandaVision. As a result, Zodiac now stands as one of the few new live-action Marvel series currently in active development.
