Mobius Reportedly Has the Strangest Role in Avengers: Doomsday

A fan-favorite Loki character might have the most unexpected job in the entire MCU. Owen Wilson’s Mobius reportedly has a surprisingly strange and minimal role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers: Doomsday rumor reveals the exact role of Mobius

Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello recently revealed a surprising detail about Mobius in Avengers: Doomsday. The leaker claimed on X that “Mobius’ role is watching a hole in the wall in Avengers Doomsday.” The post added, “Yea that isn’t a joke,” suggesting the role is genuinely minimal.

Tom Hiddleston appears in Doomsday as Loki, reprising his role from the MCU. Marvel officially confirmed Loki as part of Sam Wilson’s “Heroic Avengers” team at Disney’s Giornate Di Cinema Sorrento presentation. That team also includes Thor, Xu Shang-Chi, Joaquin Torres, and Ant-Man. Owen Wilson portrayed Mobius across both seasons of the Loki television series.

Mobius served as a key ally to Loki throughout the show’s two-season run. He worked as an analyst at the Time Variance Authority and helped Loki uncover its secrets. The character’s arc concluded with him leaving the TVA to observe his variant’s life on the Sacred Timeline. His final scene showed him watching his counterpart Don play with two children in Ohio.

The rumored role would mark a significant reduction in Mobius’ presence within the MCU. Marvel’s official cast announcement in March 2025 did not list Owen Wilson among the 26 revealed names. Kevin Feige and Robert Downey Jr. teased that additional cast members remained unrevealed at that time.

Avengers: Doomsday features heroes from three different universes converging to face Doctor Doom. Robert Downey Jr. plays the villain, while the Russo Brothers direct with a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. The film arrives in United States theaters on December 18, 2026. Its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, follows on December 17, 2027.
