Hugh Jackman and Wolverine have become linked for years. Now, Insomniac Games’ Wolverine has finally landed. However, one viral quote has created confusion online.
Did Hugh Jackman call the new Wolverine game embarrassing?
Earlier this week, Insomniac Games released its highly anticipated game. Marvel’s Wolverine launched exclusively for PS5 on September 15. The game is priced at $69.99 for players. Critics gave the game a middling score of 77.
However, players on social media have been much harsher. Many complained about gameplay, visuals, and overall value. Amid the backlash, one Hugh Jackman quote went viral. The quote was shared across social media platforms. It claimed Jackman was embarrassed by the game.
The original post came from parody account Chaos Crave on X (formerly known as Twitter). El Gamer Informado later shared the post as well. The post attributed a shocking statement to Jackman.
The viral quote claimed, “I mean, if there’s ever a moment where I wish I wasn’t Wolverine, this would be that moment. The videos I’ve seen are so embarrassing.” However, Hugh Jackman never actually said those words.
The quote attributed to the actor is completely fabricated. There is no evidence showing Jackman made those comments. Even X has also added a Community Note to the viral post, which describes itself as a parody and satire account.
Many fans have nevertheless treated the quote as genuine. This has created unnecessary confusion around Jackman’s opinion. The actor has not publicly ridiculed the game. The controversy comes after mixed reactions to Wolverine.
Insomniac Games has delivered several major Marvel titles. Its previous releases received strong reviews from critics. The studio has released several successful titles, including Marvel’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also received strong critical reactions, while Marvel’s Wolverine has received a more mixed response. The game is currently among Insomniac’s lower-rated releases. However, Jackman’s supposed comments are not real.
So, fans should not confuse criticism with Jackman’s opinion. The viral quote does not come from Hugh Jackman.
