One Piece’s Emily Rudd & Gen V Star Battle for Sydney Sweeney’s Previously Rumored X-Men Role

A new rumor suggests that Sydney Sweeney is potentially facing competition from One Piece star Emily Rudd and a Gen V actress for a major X-Men role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This comes amid speculation that Sweeney has been under consideration for the said role along with Margot Robbie.

Emily Rudd and Gen V star rumored for Emma Frost role in X-Men reboot

@mainmiddleman took to X (formerly Twitter) to claim that “Maddie Phillips and Emily Rudd are also in the running for the role of Emma Frost in X-Men.” Notably, rumors about Sydney being the pick for the role have been circulating for a while, but Marvel hasn’t confirmed anything yet.

Phillips has played Randeen in Ghost Wars, Devon D’Marco in Project Mc2, and Sterling Wesley in Teenage Bounty Hunters before joining The Boys universe as Cate Dunlap, playing the character both in the mothership series and the spin-off, Gen V. Meanwhile, Rudd plays Nami in Netflix’s live-action show One Piece. She also starred in the dual roles of Cindy and Abigail Berman in the Netflix horror movie series Fear Street.

Marvel’s X-Men reboot remains one of the most eagerly anticipated projects in the MCU, though much about it remains shrouded in mystery. We do know that Jake Schreier, who previously helmed Thunderbolts*, is directing the reboot.

Michael Lesslie penned a draft of the movie. Joanna Calo and Lee Sung Jin, who have collaborated with Schreier on Thunderbolts* and Netflix’s comedy drama anthology series Beef, developed a newer draft,

The casting for the X-Men reboot also remains unclear. It’s not known whether any actors from 20th Century Fox’s X-Men film series will appear in the reboot. Some of those actors, including Hugh Jackman (Logan / Wolverine) and Patrick Stewart (Professor Charles Xavier), are already part of the Marvel Studios fold, and several among the rest will make their debut in Avengers: Doomsday.
