Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider movie could feature several major supernatural villains. While rumors currently place Mephisto at the top of the list, Marvel Studios could also include Lilith and Blackheart in the project.
Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto could be one of the villains in Ghost Rider movie
Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto could be one of the villains in Marvel Studios’ Ghost Rider movie, according to well-known insider and journalist Alex Perez. Speaking on The Cosmic Circus, Alex Perez discussed the upcoming movie during a Q&A session. One fan asked Perez about the possible story for the upcoming Ghost Rider movie.
Perez explained that specific plot details remain limited. However, he did reveal one major detail. Perez said, “I’ve only heard two things: expect Sacha Baron Cohen as Mephisto and that he’ll be established by the time we get to his movie. (I.E., he’s been at this Ghost Rider stint for a hot minute).”
Mephisto is already a major supernatural figure in the series and has strong ties to Ghost Rider. Insiders have discussed his involvement in the movie. However, other villains could also appear in the movie. Another fan directly asked Perez which villains could appear in Ghost Rider.
Alex Perez explained, “Mephisto is definitely at the top of that list. However, if Marvel still wants to maintain parts of their original plans for their Supernatural storylines, I could totally see Lilith and Blackheart being involved here. And it would also give the chance for Mia Goth to debut in the MCU (finally).”
Reports previously linked Mia Goth to the role of Lilith in the MCU’s long-delayed Blade reboot. Her potential appearance in Ghost Rider could finally allow the actress to make her MCU debut. Blackheart would also be a familiar name to Ghost Rider fans.
The character previously appeared as the main villain in Nicolas Cage’s 2007 Ghost Rider movie. In the first Ghost Rider film, the main villains included the demon lord Mephistopheles and his rebellious son Blackheart.
The sequel featured Roarke and the decayed mercenary Blackout. The upcoming movie could therefore introduce a new version of the supernatural world while also bringing back familiar characters from Ghost Rider’s comic-book history.
A recent report also claimed that Rosamund Pike could play Johnny Blaze’s love interest opposite Ryan Gosling. However, Marvel has not officially confirmed her casting.
With Alex Perez now stating that Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto could be one of the villains in the Ghost Rider movie, alongside possible appearances from Lilith and Blackheart, it will be interesting to see which villains ultimately make it into the project. The film targets a 2028 theatrical release.
