Sebastian Stan has shared honest thoughts on moving from MCU to DC Universe with Scarlett Johansson for The Batman: Part II. Both renowned Hollywood stars are taking on crucial roles in Matt Reeves‘ anticipated sequel to 2022’s blockbuster, led by Robert Pattinson.
While promoting his new movie Fjord at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, Stan was asked to comment on his transition from the Marvel movie franchise to the DCU with The Batman sequel.
He said, “It’s pretty wild. Yeah. I mean, I thought I knew something about the comic book world. Turns out I didn’t.” He plays the character of Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in the MCU.
When asked about reuniting with Johansson, who appeared as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the MCU, Stan added, “I really enjoyed working with her, and I’d worked with her on anything, so it’s a nice continuation.”

The Batman: Part II will see Robert Pattinson reprising his iconic role of Bruce Wayne/Batman from the original movie.
While the story is still being kept under wraps, early reports suggest that the plot will mainly focus on events during the winter season in Gotham City. A teaser video from July confirmed this as well, showing Pattinson as the Caped Crusader standing amid the snowfall.
Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson are expected to play important roles in the sequel. However, there’s no official update available on their respective characters.
Rumors suggest that Stan might be playing Batman villain Victor Zsasz while Johansson is expected to be involved in a romantic relationship with Bruce Wayne, according to leaked set photos. Fans should take everything with a grain of salt for now until there are official updates.
The ensemble cast of the movie will see the return of Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin.
The Batman Part II is currently scheduled for theatrical release on February 18, 2028.
