The Sandman Season 2 Teases Why Delirium Stopped Being Delight

The Sandman Season 2 introduced a horde of great new characters, including Delirium (Esme Creed-Miles), the youngest of the Endless who was previously known as Delight. The second season of The Sandman constantly keeps this lingering mystery alive without giving much explanation as to why Delirium stopped being Delight.

So, here’s everything to know about Delight’s decision to change to Delirium and the reason behind the same.

How Is The Fantastic Four: First Steps Different From the Comics?

Does Delirium reveal why she stopped being Delight in The Sandman Season 2?

Despite The Sandman Season 2 teasing it as a fascinating mystery, it is never revealed why Delight became Delirium. In the second season of the show, she recruits Dream to help her find Destruction, but during the entire saga, she never reveals the reason behind her change.

Even Destiny, who seemingly has all the answers, does not know the reason behind this change. Delirium knows this, too, and tells Destiny that there are things that are not part of his book. So, she seemingly confirms that she is the only one who knows why she stopped being Delight.

Furthermore, there are no hints about this transformation in the comics either. The only certain thing is that Delight changed a long time ago. So, the most likely theory is an unmentioned trauma involving her that changed her into Delirium.

Meanwhile, some fans on Reddit have theorized that the change came because Delight is an emotion that cannot be preserved for long. It eventually does turn into a different state, so this could be the more cosmic explanation for Delight’s change.

Either way, even if The Sandman series were to explore this further, there is no scope now. The series has seemingly concluded with the second season. Moreover, it is unconfirmed whether the comics will proceed further.

Both seasons of The Sandman are now streaming on Netflix.
